Quality Italian Dining in Cork

Opened in May 2013, Gallo & Galetti is the new & exciting answer to modern Italian dining in Cork.

Located at High street Wilton, Bishopstown it is ideally situated across from Cork’s university hospital (CUH) and close to Wilton shopping centre. Gallo & Galetti poses as the perfect neighbourhood restaurant and has come as a welcome addition to the Western suburbs of Cork.

This seventy seat restaurant is a joint venture by Brendan Cashman, multi award winning chef & restaurateur in partnership with local businessman Richard O’Brien.

A casual and modern family friendly restaurant

Unlike Cashman’s former, award winning restaurant Augustine’s, Gallo & Galetti is a casual, modern Italian, family friendly venue but still maintains the high standards both in the kitchen and front of house that we have come to expect from this popular restaurateur.

The emphasis, as always with Chef Cashman is to use the best of local, artisan and international ingredients, creating innovative, fresh and tasty dishes. This popular Italian restaurant has already become a big favourite in Cork, with the added bonus of being economically priced. “We saw an opening in Cork, where all types of customers could enjoy an inexpensive lunch or dinner without compromising on quality fresh & tasty food. As a family we always struggled to find somewhere with parking, that suited everyone’s taste and didn’t break the bank! We think Gallo & Galetti ticks all the boxes for the times we’re in”, added Brendan.

Brendan Cashman

Largely self-taught chef, Brendan Cashman a native of cork came to the fore in 2006 after opening Augustine’s restaurant on Washington Street with wife Carol. Invited to move their popular restaurant to the ground floor of the clarion Hotel in 2009, both chef and restaurant quickly gained local and national acclaim and a pletra of awards followed, among them, best chef Cork, best restaurant Munster both Michelin and Bridgestone guide recommendations & awards.

Chef Cashman became synonymous with his innovative tasting menus and commitment to local artisan producers and this award winning team remained the hottest restaurant in Cork until its closure in February 2012.

Since then Cashman has been in demand consulting on various projects both nationally and in the UK but has now returned to develop Cork’s new, modern Italian Restaurant “Gallo & Galetti”.
